CAUSE AND EFFECT

CHAPTER 7 PART 1, PART 2, & PART 3

Hi Hi...

Now I'm gonna talk about "CAUSE AND EFFECT"

The word cause in English can fall into the noun or verb category. In a noun it means someone or something that causes something to happen. In verb means action that makes something happen.

We can see the effect in noun or verb sentences. In a noun, it means a change that is the result of an action or cause. Whereas in verbs, effect is written as affect which means to produce an effect or cause a change in something.

Example : If we eat too much food and do not exercise, we gain weight

Eating food without exercising is the “Cause” weight gain is the “Effect.”

Signal words are specific words that you can use to transition between the different ideas in your paper clearly and organically.

Signal Words :

CAUSE : because, the reason for, due to, since, led to, bring about, give rise to, created by.

EFFECT : as a result, outcome, finally, consequently, therefore, hence, effect, then, so.

Example : Since school was cancelled, we went to the mall. Because the rain starts to fall, lia wears her raincoat. The baby was crying, so mom picked him up.

1. Connecting words followed by clause : "Because, Since, As, For, As a result of".

2. Conjunctive words followed by the phrase : "Due to, Because of, Owing to, Thanks to".

We can mention the cause first, then the effect and also mention the effect first, then the cause.

Combining two sentences related to cause and effect requires a "cause and effect" conjunction.

And this is an assignment given by my teacher that I've done (Chap 7 Part 1 & 2)
